Listen to this article:

The developers of a quarry in Samoa that collapsed on Monday, killing three people, did not have a permit.

The natural resources ministry says the Tausala Matiu Company did not have a permit to quarry soil at the site at Tafua-tai, on Savai’i.

Two others were injured in the landslide.

The ministry’s chief executive told the Samoa Observer the ministry is considering its options in light of Monday’s landslides, including criminal charges.
