A EUROPEAN Union funded program to teach participative democracy and accountability will be launched on Thursday in Suva.
According to the Citizens’ Constitutional Forum (CCF), the primary implementer, the initiative will also include work by Transcend Oceania, which lists its mission as “advancing Sustainable Peace and Development through Justice and Non-violence.”
The project is entitled “Participative Democracy and Accountability Action Project”.
“The CCF is a non-governmental organization that advocates and educates for human rights, democracy, good governance and multiculturalism in Fiji. CCF’s vision is to build a Fiji where people live together in equality, justice and peace, respecting the rule of law, under a Constitution that guarantees democracy and human rights,” the CCF said.
“The objective of the Participative Democracy and Accountability Action Project is to strengthen the role of civil society and communities in Fiji’s transition to a more inclusive and accountable governance system, including through increased participation in policy formulation processes and accountability mechanisms.”
