Dad gives evidence in daughter’s rape trial

THE father of a 16-year-old teenager who was allegedly raped by a 34-year-old man at Suva Point informed the High Court that he found his daughter with the accused on the day when the alleged offence took place.

In his evidence, he said he went looking for his daughter at about 10pm at Suva Point and when he arrived, he tried to block the accused’s car from moving by parking his car in front.

The man claimed his effort was all in vain as the accused drove away with his daughter and later dropping her off at their home.

He said he was good friends with the accused and he could not believe what he did to his daughter.

The accused, who is charged with one count of rape, is standing trial before High Court judge Justice Salesi Temo at the High Court in Suva.

The alleged incident took place in September 2016.
