THE Cuvu College under-18 rugby team knows what to expect from Ratu Kadavulevu School in the Powerade Super Deans Rugby Championship under-18 final on Saturday.
Cuvu College principal Navneet Mishra said they would need to play smart rugby knowing what RKS was capable of after the semi-final clash against Ratu Navula College last week.
“First and foremost is our defence, we need to be strong with our defence because RKS have line breaking players and we need to stop that,” Mishra said.
“We will need to disrupt their set piece, counter their rucks and we will try to gain possession and look for possible points. “Like we’ve been doing in the past games, we respect our opponents and take a humble approach towards the game and be disciplined at all times.”
The young stallions created history for their school and for the province of Nadroga after they defeated Marist Brothers High School 12-10 in their U18 semi-final last weekend to be the first school from the province to reach the final stage in the history of the Deans competition.
Mishra says the team’s preparation has been normal as usual with the players being reminded of the importance of discipline and respect
“The players know the importance of the task ahead of them, their preparation and approach towards a game hasn’t changed until the final whistle on Saturday,” Mishra said.
“This is a young side that has made everyone in the province proud and we are thankful to have reached this level.”
Cuvu College will face RKS on Saturday at 4.40pm at the ANZ Stadium.
