STAKEHOLDERS from government and faith-based organizations today gathered to discuss issues that are affecting families in Fiji.

The Family Day panel discussion was hosted by the Ecumenical Centre for Research and Advocacy (ECREA) and Nausori Ecumenical Christian Churches (NECC) at the LDS Church in Nakasi.

The panellists included Reverend Iliesa Naivalu from the Fiji Council of Churches , President Lote Diroya from the LDS church, Pastor Talemo Ratakele from the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Ministry of Social Welfare, Nivita Narayan and Roko Tui Tailevu Iliesa Delasau from the Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs.

With the theme “Families are where we connect ourselves in relationships to past, current and future generations: Raising awareness on issues affecting family in Fiji”, Executive Director for ECREA said the theme was chosen as issues within families needed to be urgently addressed in Fiji.

Mr Naviri said there are now plans in place to extend these discussions to the western and northern division in the near future.
