FITNESS trainer Henry Elder has been appointed as the strength and conditioning coach for the Cricket Fiji team for the International Cricket Council East Asia Pacific Sub Regional World T20 Qualifier in August. Fiji was given the rights to host the tournament in February earlier this year.

Fiji coach Josefa Rika said Elder was a coach who would bring a vast of experience with him which would be vital in the team’s performance.

“Henry is no stranger for all sports in Fiji as he had been involved with us for the past four years and he first came on board in 2014 when coach Shane Jurgensen coached Fiji.

“He was also the trainer for the Fiji under-19 in 2015 which qualified for the World Cup.

“He was the reason for Fiji to have qualified since he looked after the strength and condition of the team.

“He went to England with the Fiji men’s team for the division six competition in and then the Bangaladesh in the 2016 for the under-19 World Cup.”

Rika said the preparation work was on track.

“He is very educated and he is the most qualified trainer apart from Naca Cawanibuka. “Henry was also the trainer for the Fiji rugby 15s team for the 2007 Rugby World Cup which reached the quarter-final,” he said.

The tournament will be from August 25-30.
