Court finds Suva lawyer and businessman guilty of forgery

SUVA lawyer Aseri Vakaloloma and businessman Benjamin Padarath have been found guilty for a count each of forgery by Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili this afternoon.

The duo were charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) with a count each of forgery.

Padarath and Vakaloloma forged the Articles of Association of BECP Engineering Construction (Fiji) Ltd with a false page 27 by altering the subscription for Adishwar Padarath to Voreqe Bainimarama.

The incident occurred between October 14, 2009, and December 31, 2009.

Bail has been extended for the duo.

The case has been adjourned to July 31 for mitigation.
