A 58-YEAR-OLD Ba woman claims she is still waiting for word from the Health Ministry about possible compensation after her grandson died under “suspicious circumstances” in 2014.
“I make appointments and travel but there is just no news,” Anand Laxeshni said.
The Naidrodro resident claims her four-year-old grandson, Aryan Kumar, died after an operation went wrong at the Lautoka Hospital in 2014.
According to the death certificate, Aryan died as a result of shock, infarction of small bowel, adhesion and internal herniation of small bowel.
She also claimed that she had only received a copy of the post-mortem examination report last month.
“I have been to so many people and I got a chance to meet with the Health Minister.
“She told me since this was an old case, she will look into it because she wasn’t the minister when the incident had happened.”
Minister for Health Rosy Akbar confirmed they were aware of Ms Laxeshni’s case.
She said ministry officials were continuing their discussions with Ms Laxeshni before reaching an agreement.
