THE Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa said comments she made about workers’ issues at the Social Democratic Liberal Party’s annual general meeting in Lautoka on June 30 was made in the confines of the forum.

She issued a statement on Friday saying that she will not discuss comments made by SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka about what she had said.

It is understood that Mr Rabuka said Ro Teimumu had made irresponsible comments in the media during the AGM about SODELPA needing to display an alternative government that looked after its workers.

She had also said that any contradiction would be regressive to the principles of fair workers compensation.

Responding to Mr Rabuka’s comments, Ro Teimumu stated that what she had said at the AGM was for the members of the SODELPA family and she would leave the matter at that.

“I did not speak to the media on the subject and I maintain that position as well in this instance,” she said.
