TOP weight-lifting coach, Paul Coffa, is assisting the Fijian weight-lifters in Noumea, New Caledonia ahead of next month’s Commonwealth Games which will be held in Gold Coast, Australia.

Weightlifting Fiji head coach Josefa Vueti said the athletes would go through hard training this week.

“The athletes fitted in well with all the other lifters at the institute and we can see the atmosphere here boosted our preparation,” he said.

“We are so grateful to have Paul Coffa’s presence in training which means so much for all of us.”

The weight-lifters who are training in New Caledonia are Manueli Tulo, Apolonia Vaivai, Taniela Rainabogi, Poama Qaqa and Eileen Cikamatana.

“We started our second week of preparation towards the Commonwealth Games,” Vueti said.

“The weight-lifters will train in New Caledonia until March 30 before we depart for Brisbane for the Commonwealth Games.”

The Commonwealth Games will be held from April 4-15.
