DAY three of the largest ever Coca Cola Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Championships began with Ratu Kadavulevu School and Adi Cakobau School picking up gold medals almost immediately.

With 51 gold medals up for grabs, Day 3 of the games will be short with only 57 events and the day expected to end around 4pm.

Both schools have maintained comfortable leads since Day 1 picking up gold medals in both track and field.

As predicted the only threats to the two schools dominance has come from Marist Brothers High School in the boys division and Jasper Williams High School in the girls division.

But true to the trend of the past five years, the remote schools have given dominant large urban schools a good run for their money.

Cakaudrove schools,  Niusawa Methodist High School of Taveuni and Napuka Secondary School in Buca Bay have challenged the notion that resources and access are the only ingredients to success.
