THE extension of Lautoka City’s boundary could be under consideration following the increase in the number of developments occurring on the outskirts of the
Sugar City.Minister for Local Government Parveen Kumar said a lot of residential lots were also being developed near the city.
“With the completion of the Lovu residential area, extending the boundary could be an option,” he said.
“The whole idea is to extend the boundary, but there are certain procedures that we need to do first.
“We need to first formalise some of the informal settlements that are outside of the
city and then go through another process to extend the city boundary. That is all part of our longterm plan for Lautoka.”
