A SPECIAL welcoming service at the Centenary Church yesterday marked the final week of the Methodist Church in Fiji’s golden jubilee celebration.
Church delegates from the United States of America were welcomed at the special service which also marked the special week ahead for all Methodists in the country.
Methodist Church in Fiji president-elect Reverend Tevita Nawadra said a number of delegates were in the country to be part of the big celebration this week including the launch of the church Connexional Plan.
Mr Nawadra said not only would Methodists from around the country look forward to the launch of the Connexional Plan but the week would also be dedicated to the opening of the refurbished Baker Memorial Church on Friday.
“We have invited the vanua and partners from overseas to be part of the celebration,” he said.
“We continue to emphasise on the mission, the vanua and the outreach to the world especially those on our streets and everywhere about the gospel.”
Mr Nawadra said there would be a revival service every night leading up to Friday.
“On Friday there will be a dedication service which marks the launch of the plan and the Baker Hall which is a national monument for the church.
“Baker Hall has contributed a lot to the development of education in the past and we hope to mark its importance to the church during Friday’s celebration,” he said.
