Check authenticity of product, council warns

Listen to this article:

MEMBERS of the public have been advised to check manufacturers’ website to clarify the authenticity of products.

Consumer Council of Fiji’s north coordinator Nanise Veikoso said many large companies now had information on their websites to alert customers to possible counterfeit products and to help them detect fakes and non genuine brands.

“Look out for deals that are too good to be true,” said Ms Veikoso.

“Inspect the packaging carefully.

“Reputable business typically take great care in packaging their products.”

Ms Veikoso urged members of the public to make sure everything that should be in a box of product packaging were present because some fake products may not include supplementary materials such as owners manual.
