CATHOLICS around Fiji gathered in numbers to celebrate the Eucharistic Celebration of the Synod Year Launch at the ANZ National Stadium in Suva today.
The Catholic Church Synod is themed “Connecting in Jesus.”
Elizabeth Rounds-Ganilau who spoke at the launch mentioned that it was a time for all Catholics to celebrate their faith.
Ms Ganilau also mentioned that the launch would take all Catholics back in time through songs and dances.
“To be connected is to be in touch with all that is happening around us,” she said.
Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong launched the Synod Year.
A diocesan synod is a group of selected and lay people a diocese who offer assistance to the diocesan bishop for the good of the whole diocesan community.
The synod offers the opportunity for Fiji Catholic Church to listen to the views of its members regarding the churches needs and direction.
