CAPTAIN Cook Cruises Fiji has launched a new environmental and sustainability initiative to strengthen its environmental policy.

Company managing director Jackie Charlton said the initiative called the Ocean Ambassador Program was launched in November, 2017.

“This program is aimed at preventing plastic pollution in remote Fiji and looking after and sustaining the Fijian environment,” Ms Charlton said.

“Since the initiative started, crew and passengers have collected on average 70 to 120kg of rubbish per week from the beaches and villages visited on Captain Cook Cruises Fijian cruises.

“We love Fiji and the Fijian people and we have worked tirelessly for over 20 years to improve and aid the locations we visit and the communities we work with.”
