Businesses step up awareness

MORE businesses around the country are stepping in to create awareness on breast cancer through the Pinktober initiative.
Vua-La Fashion in Suva annually displays Pinktober decorations in particular pink ribbons in the shops to create awareness on the importance of reducing breast cancer in Fiji.
Vua-la Fashion Clothing director Inbamalar Wanarajan said the staff at the shop were trained to assist women select the right type of bra when visiting the shop.
“It is important to get women to wear the right size bras because it can really help in reducing the risk of breast cancer,” Mrs Wanarajan said.
“We have been creating awareness for Pinktober for the last four years now and we have been doing a great job.”
She said a lot of customers, especially women, bought bras from the shop, and so the staff members explain about the need to get the right type of bra.
“We have specialised bras that are made for people and it does not restrict blood flow.
“We even have customers that are going through chemotherapy that visit our shops and we make specialised bras for them.”
