Bulitavu, Karunaratne file appeal against sentence, conviction

THE defence lawyers for former parliamentarian Mosese Bulitavu and Fiji United Freedom Party leader Jagath Karunaratne today informed the High Court that they had filed the grounds of appeal against their client’s sentence and conviction.

The duo was sentenced to two years and five months imprisonment by Magistrate Deepika Prakash in April.

Bulitavu’s lawyer Babra Malimali said she had filed 18 grounds of appeal against her client’s sentence and conviction.

Karunaratne’s lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo said he had filed seven grounds of appeal against his client

The case has been adjourned to June 13.
