THE Digicel Nadi Bula Festival kicked off with a lot of pomp and celebration with organisers anticipating a large crowd to turn up during the week long carnival.

The event which began with a fun run officiated by the Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou has a number of activities in store for Nadi residents.

Nadi Bula Festival Trust president Ravin Nadan said the people of Nadi should expect a lot of entertainment and fun activities for all members of the family to enjoy.

“We have something for everyone from the young toddlers, to teenagers and for our parents,” he said.

“The festival has been a long celebrated event for Nadi and I encourage our people to come out and enjoy the festivities.”

During the fun run, the Minister for Youth and Sports applauded the organisers of the event and encouraged the wider community to support the initiative.

“Every individual has strength and a weakness and it is our collective duty to help them reach and discover their hidden potential,” he said.

“We should remember that sport and physical activity make a substantial contribution to the well-being of people in a developing country like ours.

“Therefore, regular exercise, physical activity and sports are ingredients needed to eliminate non-communicable diseases (NCDs).”

The festival will be opened by Minister for Local Government Parveen Kumar Bala at Prince Charles Park at 7pm tonight.
