BRIEFLY

Wrong turn

ONE of the busdrivers, who was supposed to take athletes to the Coolangatta for the beach volleyball, took the volleyball team to Brisbane. It is believed the driver was from outside Gold Coast. The driver could not use the GPS system properly so he took the athletes to Brisbane and they had to be escorted back by police.

Tight security

There are 4000 additional security guards hired by the organisers for the duration of the Commonwealth Games. The security guards came from all over Australia to make the games incident-free. There were a few security officers from Fiji — who were scanning the baggage at the entry point.

45 minutes

IT would take about 45 minutes to reach Coolangatta from Broadbeach North and one would get to see all the happenings along the way. We were greeted by high waves at Coolangatta with wind and drizzle on the way to volleyball competition.

Personal

record

WHILE the athletes were breaking and creating records at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, I broke the record in the steps I walked on Friday. My mobile phone has recorded a total of 16,038 steps I walked on Friday, 15,398 on Thursday, 14,877 on Wednesday and 14,370 on Tuesday.
