Bridging the gap

ETHNIC differences were put aside as people from all walks of life took time out to assist one another in one way or the other at various polling venues around the country on Wednesday.
This was evident at the Adi Cakobau School on Wednesday when Bhan Mati, 69, who has a heart problem was assisted by Joe Qauqau to cast her vote.
Ms Mati said this was always the case for the people of Sawani, Naitasiri, an area she grew up in.
And she believes voting makes a difference for her as she will love to see a government that stands to see that every Fijian is treated equally.
Despite being diagnosed with a heart problem for the past two years, she made every effort to walk 3km to cast her vote, adding it counted in the national effort to bring good governance for the Fijian people.
The Nausori market vendor woke up at 5am to make her way to vote.
