Bollywood dancers spice up festival stage

BOLLYWOOD dancers spiced up the stage in front of a packed crowd at the Girmit Centre in Lautoka on Monday on the second round of the Namaste Pasifika Festival tour.

Featuring acclaimed dancers from India, the entertainers showcased some of the best contemporary and modern items in Bollywood entertainment.

Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Vishvas Sapkal said the Namaste Pasifika Festival would be held in other regional countries.

“This festival is basically to spread the message of peace, integrity, unity and friendship among the people all over the world,” he said.

“We will soon be moving to other countries like Kiribati during their country’s anniversary.”

He said the festival had been a widespread success.

Fiji Girmit Council chairperson YP Reddy thanked the Indian High Commission for bringing the cultural show to Fiji.

He said there was a good turnout at the event.

“I want to also thank the entertainers for showcasing their talent and for bringing happiness to the people of Fiji,” he said.

Some of the acts featured were the Sabri Brothers, Meera Das from the Gunjan Dance Academy, Jatayumoksham from the Kalaksetra Foundation and a folk dance group from Gujarat.
