THE body of Suluo Ratuba from Navala in Ba has been recovered.
Chief operations officer acting Assistant Commissioner Police (ACP) Maretino Qiolevu confirmed Mr Ratuba’s body was discovered by a 35-year-old man of Tavua.
“The body of the 67-year-old farmer of Navala, who was swept away by strong currents last week, has been found,” he said.
ACP Qiolevu said earlier in the day officers from Ba had searched the Ba River with negative results.
“The victim’s body was later discovered by a 35-year-old fisherman of Tavua floating in the Vatia River in Tavua last night between 9 and 10pm,” ACP Qiolevu said.
He said the body was now being kept at the Tavua Hospital awaiting post-mortem examination.
Mr Ratuba was swept away by strong currents while trying to cross the Yaloku bridge in Ba last Saturday.
He was accompaning a group of men to secure livestock.
He is survived by his wife and son.
