NATIONAL Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad claimed in Parliament this afternoon that the State’s HomesCARE money were used by some people to buy mobile phones and television screens.

In his response to the 2018/2019 Budget in Parliament, Prof Prasad questioned Government on how many victims have received the full amount of $7000 given under the initiative.

“We were told during the last sitting of Parliament 56 households received it at that stage. But we visited the flood-stricken areas in the West. Many, many homes were severely damaged,” he said.

“The families in those houses needed more than $7,000.

“The Government thinks that dishing out cheques solves every problem. But for some families it is too much. For some families it is too little. And for some families it is too late.

“What about these families? Do these families matter too?” Prof Prasad said.
