I commend the initiative of the Nadogo Bilibili Association in organising a bilibili (bamboo raft) race along the Wainikoro River on Saturday in the bid to revive culture and traditions.
According to Ratu Solomone Catarogo, the event aimed at empowering the youths and reviving the iTaukei culture for the younger generation. Hats off to the organisers for taking the necessary steps to ensure that the youths of Wainikoro would not only learn about the struggles of their forefathers while travelling by bilibili but also know about their history, culture and traditions.
I am glad that The Fiji Times covered this event to motivate our youths on the importance of maintaining our culture, traditions and identity.
The scene reminded me of those days when we used to travel by Wainikoro River to Nadogo Secondary School.
