THE 2015 Smugglers Cove Western Seniors Open Championship in Nadi next month is expected to attract a big field.
The tournament will be staged under the Fiji Senior Golfers Association’s banner.
Smugglers Cove director Mark Hinton said the tournament was initially supposed to be held this weekend but had been shifted to allow the contingent from Suva to participate.
Hinton said the age criteria for the seniors would be over 55 years.
He said there would be other categories for golfers under the age of 55 years, the ladies and juniors.
“It will be an 18 holes stroke event played at the Nadi Airport Golf Club Course on August 27.
“The membership for the seniors association is $100 for the whole season.”
Nadi’s Ram Khelawan will be the favourite for the tournament playing on his home course.
Khelawan won the DHL Global Forwarding Seniors/Elite Golf Day competition at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course and the Plantation Island Resort Seniors Championship last year.
David Oakley will lead the Suva charge.
