SODELPA’S new parliamentarian Ratu Tevita Niumataiwalu believes that restoring biblical values will help communities conquer challenges derived from the changing world system.

Ratu Tevita, who is also the Tui Namuka in Macuata, will replace Mosese Bulitavu who lost his seat following a conviction of sedition by the Suva Magistrates Court last month.

Ratu Tevita has been confirmed to take up the Parliament seat left vacant in the absence of Mr Bulitavu.

“I am excited and I believe this is God’s calling, who has brought me this far and to tell the nation that we need to restore biblical principles and promote its values of life,” he said.

“Look around us today, there are more cases of social ills and reports of people being hurt, raped, attacked, injured and this is happening because the respect that we once lived has faded away.

“We need to reinforce the teachings of love in our society, especially from home and parents play a vital role in this.

“When we do this, then we can restore, rebuild and remake our society.”

Ratu Tevita said with love, people would respect one another.

“And when we respect each other, we actually fight against social ills that are affecting us today because we will work together,” he said.

“The iTaukei communities are known for their big hearts and it is through the teaching of love, made known to us in the Bible in Matthew 22: 36-40, that we can conquer all odds that come our way.

“This is the greatest Commandment of love and I believe we need to value the way we look at others and respect one another for only through these values, we can restore humanity and our purpose.”
