WITH the school holidays just six days away, Save the Children Fiji is requesting parents and guardians to be vigilant of the whereabouts and safety of their children.

Save the Children Fiji CEO Iris Low-McKenzie said with the school break and with festivals happening, everyone must ensure they are safe and they enjoy the festivities.

Ms Low-McKenzie said parents, guardians and adults must ensure their children remember their parents’ full names and their mobile numbers by heart so tracing loved ones would be much quicker.

She commended the Fiji Police Force for their tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of members of the public, especially in this time of the year where thousands of people are moving about for various conferences and festivals.

Ms Low-McKenzie said given the growing rates of abuse and sexual violence, most victims were children and this was a concern.

The school holidays start on August 10.
