A BANK employee is wanted by police for allegedly obtaining about $110,000 under false pretences earlier this month.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said a report was received by the Criminal Investigations Department on July 16 whereby a Fazeel Rasid Ali is alleged to have falsely created e-mail correspondence purporting to be the bank’s treasurer offering the best rates of foreign exchange for two companies.
“The suspect through these false emails managed to have one cheque approved for payment on the July 9 for the sum of $65,000 from one company and again on July 13 a second cheque for the sum of $45,000 which was both cashed,” Ms Naisoro said.
She is requesting if anyone with information on the whereabouts of this man to contact the CID headquarters on 8990536.
