WITHIN a period of two weeks, two reports of missing babies have been reported at the Labasa Police Station.

The first was allegedly abducted from the Labasa Hospital and the second incident was reported this week in which a woman left her baby with a vendor at the Labasa Market.

Police are searching for the woman who is believed to have left her baby with a Labasa Market vendor.

Police spokesman Inspector Jokatama Qio said the incident happened at the Labasa Market on Tuesday afternoon.

It is believed that the mother of the child asked a vendor to hold her baby while she attended to something. Insp Qio said the mother of the child, of iTaukei enthnicity, then left the baby with the vendor and never returned.
