BA Provincial Freebird Institute ended Cuvu College’s fairy-tale run in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Deans West Zone Under 18 competition this season.

This after Cuvu defeated Sigatoka Methodist High, Natabua High School and Ratu Navula in the past three weeks of competition.

The Lautoka-based team stunned last year’s Deans semi-finalists 13-12 in a mouth-watering clash held at Lautoka’s Churchill Park on Saturday.

Ba Provincial lost to Natabua in the opening round of competition but bounced back in style to upset the West Zone champions.

The outcome of the game has opened up chances for former Deans champion Ratu Navula to relegate Cuvu from top of the points standings.

In another exciting Under 18 battle, Ratu Navula secured a narrow 15-11 win over Natabua High School.

The last round of round robin competition will be held on Saturday and the top four teams to feature in the West Zone semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Ratu Navula Under 19 avenged last week’s loss to Ba Provincial with a 14-6 win.
