SINCE its inception in 1968, the Lions Club of Ba has been one of the most active non-government organisations in the town. From organising cancer screenings to offering scholarships for students, the club has come a long way in its 50 years of existence.

Members of the club gathered in Ba on Saturday to celebrate the club’s golden jubilee.

Club president Pradeep Chandra said over the years, the club had initiated many activities that benefitted the Ba community and on many occasions extended its services to Lautoka, Nadi, Tavua and Rakiraki.

“I am blessed with members who are full of wisdom, energy and passion to help the poor and needy in our community,” he said.

Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Vishvas Sapkal said it was great to see the club carrying on the good work members had been doing for generations. Members also received awards and commemoration certificates as part of the celebration.
