Update: 2:43PM THE Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is working towards securing a water source for the over 100 residents in the South of Taveuni.
Responding to questions from this newspaper a statement from the authority said the land needed for the pipeline alignment within Salialevu Estate, lies on a freehold property on Taveuni.
“The Authority is currently in negotiations with the property owners, through their trustees, on how best WAF can legally occupy the area of interest,” the statement said.
“Options under consideration are for WAF to either lease the area or to purchase the land outright. The Authority is currently discussing the formalisation of an appropriate agreement.”
