CANBERRA, 18 SEPTEMBER 2018 (ABC) – Solomon Islands’ Prime Minister Rick Hou says his Australian counterpart, Scott Morrison has personally assured him that Australia will not pull out of the Paris Agreement on climate change.

Rick Hou sat down with the Australian prime minister in Canberra last week.

Some Pacific Island nations are demanding Australia do more to curb its carbon emissions but Hou says he’s satisfied with the commitments Morrison has made on climate change.

The two leaders also discussed the undersea internet cable being laid between Australia and the Solomon Islands and PNG, and is largely funded by Canberra.
