FIJIAN athletes who want to qualify for the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, later this year need to work extra hard.
Fiji Athletics will be taking 12 athletes to take part in the Melanesian Athletics Championship in Port Vila, Vanuatu, next week and this will be the qualifier for the youth games.
Head coach Bola Tafo’ou is working with the athletes on how they can improve their sprints, especially the secondary school athletes who are taking part for the first time.
“We’re working closely with our individual athletes, on their speed, endurance and most of all their confidence,” he said.
