Update: 11:49PM MILITARY commander Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga said he was grateful there was no need to deploy members of the military to polling stations today.
He said the RFMF did not take part in the security of polling stations.
“The police used all resources to ensure the safety and security of all polling stations,” he said.
“The RFMF continues to provide a stand-by force if there was any requirement to deploy them but Im very happy and glad that there was no requirement.”
Brig-Gen Tikoitoga said according to reports they had been receiving everything was peaceful.
“We are grateful to the Fijian people for being Fijians and
maintaining the peaceful atmosphere that only Fijians can provide for
themselves,” he said.
