THE Accident Compensation Commission, Fiji has made a further payment today under the Accident Compensation Act 2017.

A sum of $75,000 was paid to Lilieta Bolaitamana, the daughter of the late Alanieta Qionibaravi, who passed away due to a motor vehicle accident on February 17 earleir this year along Marine Drive, Lami.

Ms Qionibaravi was hit by a motor vehicle as she was crossing the road in Lami and died instantly.

ACCF chief executive officer Parvez Akbar extended his deepest sympathies to the family of Ms Qionibaravi on behalf of the commission.

Ms Qionibaravi’s daughter said her mother could not be replaced, however, they felt blessed that the ACCF scheme was in place at the time of the accident.

She had previously lost a brother to a motor vehicle accident prior to the Accident Compensation Act coming into force and the family did not receive compensation at the time.

So she considered the introduction of ACCF as a blessing.
