STATISTICS highlighting anaemia in young children continue to worry health officials, with 80 per cent of children below two years and 60 per cent of children under five years of age suffering from the illness.
Ministry of health national advisor NCDs and National Wellness Centre head Dr Isimeli Tukana said in an effort to address the alarming stats of children’s health, a “National Iron and Multivitamin Supplements” (NIMS) program would be rolled out soon.
He said diet and eating patterns had contributed greatly to the rise in anaemia.
