Altruism passengers safe

Update: 1:21PM PASSENGERS are safe on board the Spirit of Altruism which ran aground on a reef in Lomaiviti this morning.
Lusia Batawa, a passenger on the ship said they had been given life jackets and instructed to prepare to disembark.
The Spirit of Harmony also part of the Patterson Shipping had approached the Spirit of Altruism but has since left.
“We were told that there are no signs that the ship is sinking and we will be taken across to the Spirit of Harmony vessel,” Ms Batawa said.
The passengers left Natovi at 8am this morning bound for Nabouwalu but developed engine problems.
Passengers say the ship drifted for a while before it ran aground on a reef off of Naigani Island.
