A TEENAGE girl who was allegedly raped by a 34-year-old taxidriver yesterday informed the High Court that her parents had instructed her to stay away from the accused.
The now 18-year-old victim said she used to share a close relationship with the accused before the alleged incident took place.
She claimed the accused had given her a mobile phone to use and on the day of the alleged incident, the accused called her and instructed her to meet him at Flagstaff in Suva.
The accused who is charged with one count of rape is now standing trial before Justice Salesi Temo at the High Court in Suva.
The complainant said the accused was like a close brother to her and she was very fond of him.
The complainant said the accused had said that he was a single man and that he wanted her to be his girlfriend.
She also said her parents later informed her that the accused was married with children so she instructed the accused to stay away from her and not to contact her because she did not want to destroy his family.
The complainant said instead, the accused advised her that she was not breaking her family but she should help build on his family.
The alleged incident took place in September 2016 at Suva Point.
The trial continues today.
