SUVA’S Albert Park will play host to the 2018 ICC World Twenty20 East Asia Pacific Sub Regional Qualifier next month.

Fiji will compete against Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Vanuatu in the week-long competition.

The winner of the competition qualifies to the 2019 ICC World Twenty20 East Asia Pacific Regional finals.

This is the first time Fiji will be hosting a tournament of this calibre in the sport.

Fiji National Sports Commission chairperson Peter Mazey said this had been made possible through the investments made by the Government.

“The Government developed the grounds and pavilion at Albert Park through which we have been able to secure the hosting rights. The officials from ICC were pleased when they saw the facilities at Albert Park,” Mazey said.

The teams will play in a double round robin format from August 25-29.
