Akbar: Come out of your comfort zones

THE newly-appointed Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Sofia Akbar, has called on all women in the country to come out of their comfort zones and work with her ministry.

Ms Akbar said her ministry would continue with the policies that were implemented by the previous minister.

“We are going to continue the work that was started seven to eight years ago and we have been campaigning about the continuity of the systems and reforms that were in place.

“So to start off, we will continue with that and review the systems and policies that were in place and try to address any anomalies if there were any; otherwise to start off, we will just continue with whatever has happened in the past eight years.”

She also assured that rural women would also be well looked after.

“Of course the Constitution guarantees equal citizenry and based on that we will make policies,” Ms Akbar said.

She said social welfare beneficiaries would also be well looked after.
