THE champion Adi Cakobau School athletics team had a Coca-Cola Games thanksgiving celebration at their school in Sawani, Naitasiri yesterday. The athletes and coaches were also given the token of appreciation in terms of monetary to be part of the team and bringing the pride of the ACS’s Coca-Cola Games title back to the school.

The school won 19 gold, 12 silver and nine bronze medals at the ANZ Stadium in Suva last month.

ACS head coach Toni Raboiliku said the athletes followed the program which was given them to see them reign victorious and defend the title.

“I believe the 2018 victory is a true reflection of the hard work and perseverance of the 57 young athletes who made the ACS team and the same young women braved the storm to win the title,” he said.

“The athletes were on the strict diets to learn, train and develop their talent in the best capacity to prepare for the games.”

He said there were moments when the athletes were tested in the competition, but the team had faith in them and the team which battled their way to the top in the domestic athletics competition.

“The success is the cultivation of your hard work, good diet, healthy habits, good discipline and the faith in Lord Jesus. I thank each one of you for your contribution towards the team,” he told the athletes.

“The first day of the competition was greeted with the negative energy because it was reassuring the collaborative strengths and positive energy which was boosted and the driving factor in overcoming the odds.”
