THE Ba soccer team will suffer a huge blow at the upcoming Courts Inter District Championship with the departure of two key players.
Striker Samuela Nabenia and evergreen Meli Codro have applied for their release to join Lautoka and Suva respectively.
Team manager Arvind Singh said the departure of these key players would be a huge loss for the men-in-black.
He said the duo had contributed a lot to the success of the Ba team in the past years and would be greatly missed by their teammates and fans.
“It is unfortunate to lose these two key players but we cannot do much but wish them well,” said Singh.
“They have been instrumental for Ba and will be greatly missed.”
He said their departure would also give room for other young players in the training squad to be exposed to top level competition.
“We have many young players in the squad and this is a good time for these young boys to show their worth and fill in the vacuum.
“Ba has always remained committed in developing and grooming our own talents.
“We have some upcoming talents coming up and we just need to give them quality game time and be used to top level competition.”
Meanwhile, Singh said after qualifying for the Oceania Football Championship, the side had set its focus for the much anticipated IDC.
The side lost to Lautoka in last year’s final and will be out in full force to lift the coveted title to the soccer ‘crazy’ town.
