OVER 900 students from the Ratu Sukuna Memorial school today received Meningococcal vaccinations from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

Vice Principal Epeli Tawake said all students from year 9 to 13 received the vaccinations today.

“The nurses have been here since the morning and all students from year 9-13 were vaccinated,” Mr Tawake said.

“We have 6 streams from year 9 to 10, five streams for year 11, four streams for year 12 and two streams for year 13 with about 40 students in each class.”

Mr Tawake said students needed to be vaccinated in order to be protected from this bacterial infection.

The Men-C vaccination campaign was launched yesterday by MoHMS, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
