FIJI Airways Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber says coaching the national 7s team is one of the best moments of his rugby career.

He said he was honoured to be involved with some of the world’s finest rugby players.

And as he prepared to guide the national team for this year’s Rugby World Cup 7s, the former Wales 7s rep is also aware of the expectations required in that position.

“It’s a huge pleasure to coach Fiji,” said Baber.

“It is one of the best coaching jobs in the world.

“Obviously it comes with great expectations and I knew coming into the job.”

Baber said he had faith in the players to perform to their best this weekend.

He said he kept reminding the players the significance of their roles and their purpose of being selected in the team.

“The focus is that we want to produce this weekend and keeping the players in that mood.”

Despite failing to win the Commonwealth Games and the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series title, Baber has created history not only for Fiji but for the world in winning three consecutive world 7s tournaments and the only Fiji coach to win five world rugby 7s tournaments in a season.
