6.4 mag earthquake in Indonesian region; tsunami alert lifted

Update: 11:41AM A STRONG 6.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded in eastern Indonesia this morning triggering a brief tsunami alert.
The Seismology Unit of the Suva-based Mineral Resources department reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 171.5km.
It was registered 512km Southwest from Timor Leste, 1937km Southeast from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, and 5416km Southeast from Suva.
The Straits Times reported that the seismic activity initially triggered a tsunami alert by the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (IOTWMS), which was followed by a second bulletin that said there was “no threat to countries in the Indian Ocean”.
