$5m for river dredging

DREDGING works currently being conducted on the Sigatoka River will cost the government over $5m and take over seven months to complete.

The Minister for Waterways Dr. Mahendra Reddy clarified this while delivering his ministerial statement in Parliament this morning.

He explained the project aims to extract 70,000 cubic litres of silt from the river.

Dr. Reddy said a survey team was currently clearing debris upstream for two weeks.
