5.6 magnitude earthquake recorded in Ono-i-Lau

ANOTHER earthquake with a 5.6 magnitude was just recorded 429km South-southwest from Doi Village in Ono-I-Lau at 12.25pm today.

This was revealed by the Mineral Resources Department’s Seismology Unit.

The earthquake happened at a depth of 508km, 651km East from Nuku’alofa in Tonga and 766km West from the capital city of Suva.

The department said this seismic activity does not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji group.
