THE Boxing Commission of Fiji is gearing up to host the first ever World Boxing Foundation title fight in Fiji.

BCF chairman Bulutani Matatawakilai confirmed that the fight was scheduled to take place in August.

“Renold Quinlan, who resides in Australia but grew up in Nepani, Nasinu wants to fight in Fiji. He’s an Australian on Fijian decent and is raring to go in front of his Fijian fans. He tried to arrange a fight in Fiji in 2015 but it did not eventuate and this is his second attempt.” said Bulutani.

While his opponent has not been confirmed, Quinlan will fight one of the top 30 ranked boxers in the world for the WBF Middleweight title.

“A local promoter has shown interest in hosting the event and we are on the verge of finalizing dates and other fights on the night. I will be meeting him next week and a lot if expected to be finalised then.”

He added Quinlan has fought 185 professional bouts winning 12, eight by knockout, while he has lost three times.
